The Royal Air Force Museum is a national museum, a Government non-departmental public body (NDPB) and a registered charity, with two sister sites at London and Cosford. RAF Museum Enterprises Ltd is the trading arm of the RAF Museum with all profits gift-aided to the Museum to support its charitable activities. Our purpose is to share the story of the Royal Air Force through its people and collections, to engage, inform and inspire our visitors. Our overall vision is to reach, connect and inspire everyone with the RAF story.
The Museum is looking to expand its visitor offer and develop exciting new ways of telling the story of the RAF’s first 100 years. We are looking for pro-active and customer-focused individuals to be part of this exciting change. Having just completed a multimillion pound redevelopment project on site, there has never been a better time to join our award-winning museum.
As a Visitor Experience Assistant, you will form part of the Museum welcome team, based in our new visitor centre. You will greet all Museum visitors and will be setting the standard for the rest of their visit through your positive, professional and friendly approach. Not only will you be providing visitors with a warm and friendly welcome you will be their initial point of contact in understanding their visit and the RAF Story.
A key part of your role will be to actively promote the selling of our Souvenir Guidebooks, Museum Memberships and ticketed experiences - such as the Spitfire Experience and our new Dambusters Virtual Reality Experience. You will support your colleagues in our Retail Team with commercial and retail development and exceeding sales targets.
The ideal candidate will have a background in working in a customer focused environment with experience of face to face visitor contact. We are looking for bright, engaging, outgoing candidates who enjoy achieving targets alongside providing excellent customer service. You will need to be a confident communicator and be able to respond quickly and positively in a changing environment. Being flexible in your outlook is essential, as you will be fulfilling a variety of roles at the Museum, as is the need for excellent sales and customer service skills and experience of retail functions including stock control and operating tills.
You will also support the Museum in hosting evening events from gala dinners to sleepovers and outdoor film nights.
The post will be based in Colindale, NW London.This is a full-time position with regular weekend working. There will be a requirement to work some early mornings, late evenings including working into the early hours of the morning as part of the role.
