ACE Masterclass: Visual Merchandising - Creating Narrative Spaces

Registration is closed for this event

In the retail business, display can often be neglected or be seen as something only undertaken by big venues and high street shops. But good Visual Merchandising is the magic wand to success and has moved some way beyond triangles and colour blocking to a sense of theatre and celebration.

In this Masterclass, we will  explore the importance of the gift shop as an ever changing, flexible and narrative space, using examples on site from British Library award-winning pop up shops - from Alice in Wonderland to Harry Potter. From Punk to Murder mysteries...

Shops are no longer static spaces but an active part in the visitor experience. Shops must develop  independent identities to keep our visitors engaged in a sensory experience with unlimited opportunities.

In the course of the day we will move through a morning of theory to an interactive, workshop, afternoon where you can put your newly acquired ideas into practice. We will learn how to develop and manage the creative process of unfolding a theme and implementing it. Ways of recycling and upcycling fixtures on a budget and choosing the right props for your shop. Size does not matter - you can achieve great effects, large or small.
